I always strive to play for my country -- Ibrahim Shu'aibu

A former Giwa FC striker, Ibrahim Shu’aibu, said his primary ambition was to play for the national team, the Super Eagles.

Shu’abu, who plays in the Nowegian Premier League with FC Haugesund, expressed his desire to play for the national team in a telephone chat with Arewa Trust.

“A dream of every player in the world is to see himself in a national Jersey playing for his country and, I am not exempted.”

Shu’aibu, who was a one time second highest goal scorer in Nigerian Premier League (NPFL) while playing with Giwa FC in the 2012/2013 season, said playing in Norway was of great advantage to him.

He said: “For me, I can say playing in Norway is of great advantage. Playing in a snowfall is very difficult but now I have become part of it.”

Shu’aibu believes that if give an opportunity to wear national jersey, he will contribute in building the team with his multiple experiences of  playing both at home and abroad.

“Every player in Super Eagle has his own style and talent that can help in building a strong national team. When given chance, I can prove myself.”

Shu’aibu, believes that Super Eagles can restore their name as Giants of Africa by committing  themselves to the national team and encouragement from Nigerians.

As part of giving back to his community and developing football at grassroots Shu’aibu said he was sponsoring a tournament in his hometown Kafanchan.

“I am presently organizing a Lali Super 10 competition in southern Kaduna, which is currently going on in my home town, Kafanchan, to promote peaceful coexistence in the area through football and encourage young players.”

In a separate interview the coordinator, Lali Super 10 Competition, Alhaji Baballiya Musa, said the competition was going on without any hitch.

“The organizer, Ibrahim Shu’aibu will very soon come back home to witness the finals of the game and present trophy and prizes to the winners, as they are playing the last game of their season in Norwegian league one.” Baballiya added

Shu’aibu had played for Gurara FC Kafanchan, Nasarawa FC Kebbi State, Kano Pillars, Jos Academy, Wikki Tourist and Giwa FC before joining Norwegian division one league.
