just in, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Niger state has asked for an increment of retirement age for its members from age 60 to 65.
Briefing newsmen the union’s executive council meeting in Minna yesterday meeting.
The chairman, Ibrahim Umar, obliged Governor Abubakar Bello to pass an executive bill to increase the retirement age of teachers from 60 to 65 years and 35 to 40 years of service respectively.
The meeting also urged the state government to train and employ more teachers to fill the vacancies created by retirement, death and transfer of service.
It also called for the release and implementation of members’ promotion at both primary and secondary school levels.
