The news has come in of how a conjoined twins, have been successfully separated at Abuja teaching hospital.
The dad of separated twins, Mr. Ferdinand Ozugwe, has applauded the management of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada, for the successful surgery on his children.
The man, who is an unemployed youth from Delta State, made the acknowledgement immediately after the twins were discharged by the hospital on Wednesday.
It was, gathered that a team of Nigerian doctors had on October 30, successfully separated a set of conjoined twins through surgery, four months after they were delivered at another hospital
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UATH, Dr Bisallah Ekele, said the babies were stable and in good condition.
According to him, the surgery was carried out by two teams of pediatric surgeons, a team of plastic surgeons, two teams of anesthetic and specialist nurses.
The father of the twins explained that his wife gave birth to twins at the St. Mary’s Catholic hospital in the area, which he said doctors that discovered that they were conjoined from the heart to the stomach.
In his words, father of the twins stated:
“It was at the St. Mary’s hospital we were referred to the University Teaching Hospital on June 11 and the hospital nurtured them through x-rays and series of test until they were successfully separated.
I wish to express my profound gratitude and appreciation to the teaching hospital for carrying out a successful surgery on my conjoined twins,”
Ozugwe, however, beckoned on the government and well-meaning Nigerians to provide him and his wife with a job to enable them raise their twins.
